‘siglap’s architectural beauty’ is a zine i made from scratch in school documenting the beautiful hidden gem of one of singapore’s little town—siglap. the concept of this zine is built upon the idea of little bits & pieces coming together to invent something whole.
throughout the zine, i took photos of different elements of its architecture, nature and people. i talked about siglap’s origins, history and the significant events that happened in the town. i did mini illustrations, and created external collaterals to further convey the idea of elements coming together to create the full picture.
i went around Siglap to grab pieces of nature and pressed it on my zine to give my readers a ‘touch’ of my experience in the nature-filled town.
in order to convey the idea of ‘bits and pieces’, i handmade puzzle pieces using clay to fit them into a chestbox that represents a house.
for the logo, i used the letters of siglap to create a shape of a house and printed it as a sticker, stuck it on the ‘roof’ of the box and spray painted it, then proceeded to remove the sticker.
a poster to convey the concept of coming together, and to promote the release of the new zine in bookstores across Singapore.
